Faith, Hope & Love
Dear Friends,
Although we have a holiday month, we have a fantastic line up of speakers and services.
Over the years we have found that far from being time off, we have had lots of visitors to our church making this a great opportunity to invite friends, family and guests.
August takes Faith, Hope & Love as our theme - values at the heart of our Christian faith.
I am reading a brilliant book at present: ‘An Unstoppable Force‘ by Erwin Raphael McManus, (recommeded by Rick Warren).
If you like books that help you understand our culture, the role of the church and the opportunities open to us, this is a book for you.
The chapter I’m reading speaks about the vital need for aesthetics and beauty in our communicating the good news of Jesus Christ.
Our youth groups have just returned from Soul Survivor (what a name) and our boys tell me of a worship song titled ‘you’re beautiful’ speaking about Jesus Christ.
They said at the end of this song the whole crowd of young people were completely silent for a long time during which the Holy Spirit began to move and impact many people – no preaching, no shouting, no trying to get God’s attention, just an amazing holy silence and open hearts, to which God is powerfully attracted.
Last Sunday In LCCP, people were being filled with the holy Spirit during the worship, my cry to God is ‘more Lord!’
My prayer for you during this holiday month is that you will find time and space to be silent before God and let the beauty of Jesus Christ once again impact your life.
