We welcome children of all age, ability and background at Lakeside Community Church. God didn’t make one kind of person and then clone the rest from the prototype. He blessed us with variety. Therefore, we should try to teach in a way that includes every individual for at least some of the time:
Some like to talk
Some like to move about
All need to be motivated
All need to practise
Some like to listen
Some like to experiment
All need to know the bible truth
All need to apply the truth

Not everyone learns in the same way, but EVERYONE can learn from the same session! By providing a combination of the things children NEED to do and what they LIKE to do, our children are helped to understand that obeying God’s rules is a good and positive response, bringing the very best out of life.

We have four very distinct youth church groups at Lakeside Community Church providing age-appropriate sessions for your children’s ministry:

Crèche: Some people like to call this our ‘minizone’, this is for babies up to about 4 years old. Through playtime, stories and craft, they are gently introduced to the love of Jesus Christ.

Kidzone: Two groups in one, Kidzone Blue is for children 4 to 6, and Kidzone Gold is for 7 to 9’s. Our dedicated youth leaders encourage the older children to nurture the younger ones, creating a healthy balance of church-family fellowship.

Y Zone: Growing up and growing older naturally bring physical and emotional changes. This 9-13 group will learn that God is in control and can be trusted. Given a little encouragement we see how this group are regularly integrated into family worship, performing sketches, readings, leading worship time and even doing the children’s talks!

RDD: With great power comes great responsibility! As our Christian children face their teens and young adulthood, they will face the first challenges to their faith. They must come to terms with the fact of what faith really means to them. This 13+ youth group sees them learning AND having fun!

The common themes across the age groups look at biblical principles for our relationships with family and friends and explore how God wants us to behave. We regularly use resources from Children’s Ministry of Kingsway Communications.
